Platinized Anodes

Platinized Niobium Anodes:

Platinized niobium anodes combine the excellent electrochemical characteristics of platinum with the very good corrosion qualities of niobium. Since Titanium, Niobium and Tantalum substrates are having the ability to form an insulating oxide film under anodic conditions, they are most commonly used as anode in Impressed Current Cathodic Protection system.

To realize a continuous current electrical conductivity and a long lifetime, the anodes are applied with a thin layer of Platinum. Compared to platinized titanium anodes, niobium anodes have a significantly higher breakdown voltage.

Composition: Anode comprises of a thin layer of platinum coated on Niobium substrate.

Platinized Titanium Anodes:

Platinum is the ideal permanent impressed current anode material. It is one of the most noble metals. The substrate, usually titanium is chemically resistant and mechanically robust. Due to its relatively high cost, platinum is applied as a thin coating (1-5 ?m) on metallic substrates such as titanium, niobium and tantalum. The coating has excellent electro catalytic properties. The evolution of oxygen and chlorine and/or mixtures of the two gases Platinized titanium is used extensively in cathodic protection particularly for sea water intake structures and heat exchangers where its resistance to abrasion is superior to most other anode coatings.

Types of Anodes:

Anodes are available in different shapes and forms such as: Rods, Wires, Tubes, Discs, Sheet, expanded mesh, strip and are custom made to the customer application and requirements. Copper cored anodes are also available.

Composition: Anode comprises of a thin layer of platinum coated on titanium substrate.
